Vicinity’s mission is to build community and empower people.
We’re doing this by creating an app that’s designed to unite folks and give them a voice.
After Vicinity’s launch, this company aims to improve communities through direct outreach and action. We will use our userbase to drive meaningful change on a town-by-town basis.
We’re going to change the world,
one vicinity at a time.
Our Mission
We’re also fulfilling this mission by operating as a worker-investor cooperative. In Vicinity Local’s workplace democracy structure, workers can vote in company board elections, sign binding petitions, and even veto board decisions after passing a probationary period. Investors who complete an application process after purchasing equity will have similar rights.
Most companies today operate under autocratic management, where a few at the top wield unchecked power. This leads to inefficiency and waste, like Meta’s billions spent on the Metaverse—a project nobody wanted, yet there was no one on Meta’s board to hold Mark Zuckerberg accountable.
We’re building a platform that leverages democratic principles to foster innovation, ensure accountability, and create a more equitable distribution of success.
Be a part of the change—let's make social media work for us, not against us!
